Connecting the Energetic Dots

This month we discussed the energy of the things we do to our body and how it can change us as well as so-called coincidences that led to life-changing events.

Energy is everywhere and there seemed to be so much energy of change in August, we wanted to share it all with you.  There were so many events in each of our areas, Rhode Island, NY/NJ Highlands area, Denver Metro area in Colorado and our newest location, Mind Key Florida.  Events, whether they specifically mention energy or not, can connect with energy because, like I said, its everywhere and everything.

Creative energy, be it  photo manipulation by Elisabeth Ladwig in The Making of Time Capsule or Marisa Goudy's The Energy between writer and reader talking about the bond between writer and reader.  Arts and Crafts shows bloomed in all of our areas, and Kerstin Zettmar talked about the bond she and an old friend retained over the years because of a piece of art in Slender threads of connection.

Spiritual energy is everywhere as well.  In The Art of Prayer, Ojanae Ellison explored the energy surrounding prayer within differing religions and Vera Remes talked about the hand of coincidence that was too much to be an actual coincidenceJefferson Harman was our profile of success this month, an artist and observer of energetic connections posed to us during dreams.  Tamara Rokicki talked about Telepathy, or feelings of expectation, as well as The energy between men and women.

Danielle Rose gave some great advice in Making Vendor Shows work for You, giving tips and tricks for businesses who use trade shows to connect with customers.  I talked about the energy of households, how they're each different with the multiple people and egos.  And Danielle talked, again, about the Energy of Manifestation, bringing the energy to you.

Each of us has our own story.  You have a story, as do I.  We are all made of and are surrounded by energy.  Whether you believe it is only that, energy, or the presence of a higher power, it is difficult to deny.

And why should we?  Accept the energy and bend it to your will.

In September, Mind Key writers will be exploring patterns and habits.  Why we form them and how we can break them when they no longer serve us.  Stick around!

Aquidneck Food Challenge

Rhode Island's Aquidneck Community Table launches their first ever eat local challenge this week, and whether you live on the island or across the country, shfting your food perspective to "eat like a local" opens up new patterns and new ways to connect to the energy of our bodies and our environment.
There's no better time than now--when local food is at its most abundant--to try your hand at a more-local diet.  If you're looking for help eating locally in your area, please contact us at info@mindkey.me and we'll help you find your local resources.

Sign up to take the Aquidneck Food Challenge!

September 1-10, 2016

Friends,

We've been hearing a lot of questions about the inaugural Aquidneck Food Challenge – "Do I have to give up coffee?" (No!), "But I already eat a lot of island-grown food, so why should I sign up?" (To be part of a community effort to raise awareness of local food!)

The challenge is all about raising the stakes on your local eating, whatever that means to you. There are no strict rules – and no successes or failures!

It is simply this: however much island-grown food you're eating right now – raise YOUR stakes from September 1st-10th. Maybe you're already eating seasonal bounty like corn and tomatoes – why not try incorporating Aquidneck-raised protein sources like chicken and beef too? Maybe you've been promising yourself a fishing trip and grill-out all summer – get it on the calendar for early September! Or maybe you're ready to take the plunge and eat only island-grown and Bay-caught food for the duration. It's up to you!

By signing up for the Aquidneck Food Challenge, you'll be joining a community local food adventure. We'll be sharing recipes, photos, resources, and gathering data from participants – all in the interest of growing our island food system so it serves you better.

With love and solidarity,

Bevan, Liza, and Tara

The energy of peace and manifestation

Manifestation is the process of manipulating energy in such a way that we first create and surround ourselves in the vibration what we want and then allow the universe to bring the physical manifestation of that vibration to us. That’s why visualization is such a powerful tool.  Visualization allows us to see what we want--the clearer we see it, feel it, sense it, the stronger the vibration we create.  That created vibration then has the ability to draw that which we desire to us in a very real way.

Visualization works best when it’s directed solely at oneself. In other words, a visualization board made to achieve a promotion or new home is inevitably more likely to come to pass than one made for world peace, or even for a healthy relationship--things integrally that require others.

The point is that our personal energy is powerful, but it only works from the inside out.

Let’s use the above example: manifesting a healthy relationship.  We all know this begins on the inside, but we also know it takes two and that we cannot change the thoughts or actions of others. So, how to manifest a healthy relationship?  By manifesting the qualities we seek in others within ourselves.  Then we become the energetic puzzle pieces, allowing those we love to fit into the space we’ve created.  Sometimes our loved one never morphs to fit and, instead, may fall away… In the end, we are happier because while we didn't get that relationship, we changed ourselves into the person we hoped to see. In doing so, we offer the opportunity for the right fit to make his or her way into our lives--whether that fit is the person we were with, or someone else.

Peace works the same way.  It does!  In a home full of bickering and spite, family members generally wish that the others in the household would change their behavior.  We can't change others' behavior, however.  But what can we do to create peace within ourselves first, even amongst the bickering?  Perhaps the issue did not come from inside us, but in changing the way we perceive or react to it, we offer those around us to change the action.

It’s a ripple effect.  It starts out small, and expands to all those it touches.

The same works on a larger scale--whether in an office setting, or world-wide.  When we improve ourselves, and are true to ourselves, to our needs and our desires, things begin to fit into place.

I have not been in an office setting in a long time.  But now, as a full-time mom, I see how much energy my own little family unit generates.  I see how my mood affects my children, and it causes me to recall how much the mood of any one person in the small offices I worked in affected the others.  On a good day we do great things, even if it doesn’t seem as if we were being productive (and the same was true in the office)!  When one person has a bad day, on the other hand, the structure crumbles and much less gets done.

If you can understand and believe this, then imagine if we all looked inward and allowed ourselves to be true to ourselves in all situations, if we gave ourselves permission to do what we desire and need, however difficult that permission might be, then that vibration, that buoyant energy, would radiate out.  It would encourage others to do the same. It could be powerful enough to manifest change not only to human energy patterns, but nature’s patterns as well.

In other words, it would start a ripple effect that would change the world.

Want to begin manifesting for yourself?  Contact Danielle [danielle@mindkey.me] for more information on a discovery consult or visualization workshop, and learn how.

You are a star in an otherwise bleak world

Taraleigh embodies exactly what we believe in here at Mind Key.  She has made music her life, and has made the leap to allowing that life to fully support her in every way.

She's done this by allowing her personal energy to work for her, rather than against her.  When we do what we love, and live authentically, we are asking the energy of the universe to bring more of that into our life. As humans, we hide behind masks and allow those masks define us... authenticity happens when we are brave enough to peek out from behind those masks as Taraleigh has. Then, life begins to shift so our dreams can come true.

I'm not suggesting this isn't scary, and isn't without risks, but Taraleigh's story is proof that those risks are well worth the end result.

Taraleigh as her everyday, authentic self!
Walk of Shame
by Taraleigh Weathers

“You are a star in an otherwise bleak world.”

I just received a check in the mail from a speaking engagement and workshop I presented, and these were the words I found handwritten in the "for" section.

I leaked a little awesome from my eyes because if I told the Tara from even 10 years ago that I would be getting paid to basically just be the wildest authentic expression of myself, I would have hoped it was true, but I probably wouldn't have believed it.

My "job" makes my heart sing and I often find myself saying, "I can't believe people pay me for this!" When you are using your unique gifts to serve the world that's how it should be. I'm changing that thought right now to, "People pay me for this and I'm so grateful!"

I'm not any luckier or special or braver than anyone else. I used to find it to be challenging to be the real me in every situation... CONTINUE READING HERE...

Communication: More than just you and me

By Ojanae Ellison

Since before the time we learn to talk, we are taught that in order for life to flow easy you must talk to people, communicate. All relationships depend on communication. Every relationship is different and requires different means of communication, but communication nonetheless. Good communication is essential for the healthy relationships we crave.

Herbalist and author of “The Gift of Healing Herbs,” Robin Rose Bennett agrees. "Communication is the essential key to healthy relationships,” she said. “And healthy relationships are the key to a truly good, joyful life.”

Spiritual Healer, Vera Ann Remes says she “depend[s] on spiritual and energetic interactions with [her] clients to tell [her] their needs and how to help them. When [she] scan a client’s body [she] feel the cold spots and vibrations that denote pain or illness.”   If she didn’t have open communication with the spirit world she wouldn’t be able to do her job properly.

In addition to communication with the spirit world, we must also be in tune with nature around us: noticing when the birds sing, or when the flower blooms. Taking time out of the day just to sit and enjoy nature without destroying or defacing it in anyway.

In an article written for “Greater Good, the Science of a Meaningful Life,” editor and author Jill Suttie said that it has been proven by science that being in nature “reduces anxiety, brooding, and stress, and increases our attention capacity, creativity, and our ability to connect with other people.”

Communicating with nature fosters better communication with the people in our lives.

All relationships depend on one aspect or another. If the relationship with humans, spirit or nature is lacking, it can cause the other two to be lacking. It’s kind of like a system of checks and balances. If everything is right with your relationships with your family and loved ones but you still feel something is missing, take some time out of your day to say a little prayer and sit on your porch and listen to the wind. It may seem small, but it’s the little things that make the biggest differences. Do this and slowly watch the change in your mood and overall health.
