In A Nutshell: Cooking As A Creative Endeavor

Over time cooking has evolved from a mere necessity to a creative outlet.  Generation after generation cherishes traditional recipes collected through their family line, while new age chefs are always in search for the next creative menu.  Cooking (and baking!) has endless possibilities, varied meanings, and most of all a way to connect entire cultures.

This past week our Mind Key writers have shared some of their thoughts and memories for our Cooking As A Creative Endeavor theme.

Made by Sweet Sweet Wonderland
Tamara Rokicki highlights two baking enthusiasts.  In Sweet Sweet Wonderland, we find a quaint little shop in the heart of Milford, PA.   Indeed it is the sweetest part of town—with decadent cakes and gourmet cupcakes it provides freshly made treats bound to make your mouth water.

But you don’t have to be a gourmet shop to share a love for baking.  In When Passion and Creativity Meet: Crystal’s Unique Cakes  Tamara shares her friend Crystal’s story and her talent for baking.  Crystal has a knack for spreading joy and comfort through her home baked, one of a kind creations.  From Tangled theme cakes to adorable teapot shaped sweets, she displays a love for baking and passion to make others happy.

Cooking and baking has always been an inherited love for Tamara.  Being Italian and enjoying old, traditional Italian meals is part of who she is.  In My Love for Italian Cooking she shares one of her favorite childhood memories; food and family intimately intertwined through the years.  She also shares two passed down recipes, Torta di Marmellata—Jam Pie and Involtini--Stuffed Beef Rolls.

Charla Dury shares her family’s solutions—and struggles—to eating a variety of meals throughout the week.  In I Love To Cook! she talks about being a member of E-Meals.  She strives to choose new recipes, while her family members are becoming more food adventurous and learning to cope with the dreaded vegetables.  Incorporating our Campfire Cooking theme, Charla also provides us with the perfect Campfire meal.  In Campfire Cooking-The Stew to Beat AllStews we will find the recipe for an easy but delicious stew can be made right on the camp fire.  The best thing about it is that it can be modified to please everyone’s taste buds-everyone chooses what they want to include in their stew, making the camping trip easy and delicious, too!
