Spinel debuts as a second official birthstone of August!

Some people enjoy and depend on the energy of stones found within the earth (think crystals).  Having never heard of Spinel, I wanted to share this with you.  Just one more way the Earth's bounty can expand the energy we give and receive!

Spinel Debuts as Second Official Birthstone of August!
Jewelers of America, in collaboration with the Gem Trade Association, have begun a consumer marketing campaign to announce spinel as the second official birthstone of August (with peridot being the first).  Spinel varies in color from oranges and pinks, to red, cobalt blue, and even black, mauve, and yellow!  The most famous spinel is the "Black Prince's Ruby", acquired by Edward, Prince of Wales in 1367, and later set into England's state crown, currently held at the Tower of London.
