Basking in the afterglow of Summer Fest

This weekend was beautiful!  Jacqui Geary of Trinity Metaphysical did a fantastic job organizing and running Trinity Summer Fest, all while running her own booth and doing readings too (thanks Jacqui!).

I showcased my wings and meditation/dream pillows, and taught about the faeries while giving readings.  Couldn’t believe there was a three hour wait for readings with the faeries on Sunday!  Other readers had similar waits that day as well - a fabulous turnout.

It was a busy weekend and I feel extremely blessed to have met so many wonderful people interested in hearing the faeries.  Many were also blessed with the fae as guides, and I could see them buzzing about and tittering in my ear.  They were always excited when they had pertinent advice to share.  I was touched by each and every one of you, and continue to send many blessings your way.

Vera Ann Remes and Ruth Amarante of Raven Reiki felt similarly.

“We were struck by how many people were in pain- physically, mentally and spiritually,” Vera said.  “Feedback cards were emotional reads for us.  We will send out healing to all those who need it.”

Kathleen Santora spent some time at my booth on Saturday, keeping us company, sharing her book and her spiritual healing.  It was a pleasure having her join us and we hope to see more of her soon.

Outside the light of healing there were other moments of brightness - solo acts and bands such as “Blind Men Driving?” kept the place rocking while Freckles the Clown and friends kept the kids busy with sand art, balloons, coloring and games.  There was hula hooping, yoga classes and fire dancers from Whirled Revolution after dark.

I’ll definitely be keeping in touch with the new friends and businesses I discovered this weekend.  I also plan on doing more vendor shows - possibly including other Mind Key artists and practitioners, so please keep posted and let us know if you’re interested in sharing your passion via Mind Key.

Blind Men Driving?

Blind Men Driving?
When two guys, jamming together a couple times a week met a third guy, they decided they might as well start a band.  Perhaps because of their humble beginnings they considered themselves the blind leading the blind, hence the name “Blind Men Driving?”

They may be driving blind but that hasn’t stopped them from playing their original tunes across Pennsylvania and New Jersey at benefit shows such as Trinity Summer Fest this weekend.

This past April they put together a benefit for the Ecumenical Food Pantry of Pike County and also played at the Willco Fire Bay benefit in June.  September brings an event for diabetes, and of course this weekend’s Trinity Summer Fest is benefiting the Willco Fire Bay renters and the Branchville, NJ fire department.
“They're doing what they love to do and helping people as well,” fan and follower Dawn Goebel said.

This Dingman’s Ferry band consists of two guitarists, Robert Scotti and Mike Cutaia who is also lead vocal, drummer Mark DeLade, Peter Goodrich on keyboard, and bassist Larry Fosmire.

Check out Blind Men Driving? this Saturday, August 16th at the Sussex County Fairgrounds from 9-10 pm and Sunday, August 17th from 6-7 pm during Trinity Summer Fest (free admission).

“What makes them different is that they try to send a good message through their songs and they like to do benefits to help people when they can, all while doing what they love...making music,” Goebel said.

Listen to Blind Men Driving? here and like them on Facebook.

The Realm of Faerie by Danielle Rose

I’m so pleased to be a part of Trinity Summer Fest this weekend at the Sussex County Fairgrounds.  Although I will be in the company of many other intuitives, psychics and readers, I know that what I have to offer the metaphysical world is unique unto itself.

I’ve been in contact with the realm of faerie for as far back as my memory goes.  The faerie realm is a powerful energetic field that interacts with humanity on a very base level.  Just as angels are an intricate link between spirit and humanity, faeries link nature and and mother earth to those chosen to walk it - us.

The list of authors, artists, and healers who helped me recognize this truth are many and varied, but I would be remiss without mentioning Brian Froud, especially the light and color of his artwork as portrayed in The Faeries Oracle deck.  These faeries speak quite loudly to me (with many thanks to the encouragement of Jessica Macbeth) and eventually led me to one of the most fulfilling and purposeful careers in my life.  I learned to hone and trust  my intuitive abilities through hundreds of readings for others using Brian’s deck and others.

This weekend I will be sharing my readings as well as selling magical apparel and items such as hand made wings and herb-filled dream pillows and medicine bags for meditation with faerie.  Additionally I will be teaching workshops on plants and stones useful for contacting faerie, how to recognize if you’ve touched upon their (or another) realm, and elements of dreamwork.   There will also be faerie games for kids and adults, and instruction and hands-on practice communicating with the faeries yourself.

For families and those who like to be more hands-on, Saturday will bring a wing decorating workshop, how to make your own dream pillow or medicine bag, and fairy gardening crafts for even the youngest of fairy lovers.

I will also be spending plenty of time talking about Mind Key for those interested in learning more or in being a part of the Mind Key Project either as a business, artist or individual.

Please feel free to contact me at Danielle@MindKey.me to learn more, or stop by the fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday and see what magic arises!

Healing drum circle by Raven Reiki

Vera Ann Remes and Reiki Ruth Amarante of Raven Reiki will be sharing their light at Trinity Summer Fest this weekend by providing healing sessions, meditations, divination with natural objects, and a drum circle on Saturday evening, August 16th

Reiki Master/Teacher and Drum Circle Facilitator, Vera Remes, has added the nuances of shamanic journeying, music, drumming, crystals and psychic intuition to the Usui Reiki she was taught, creating a modality of healing she has dubbed “Raven Reiki.”

Vera taught special needs students for over a decade before practicing law for 31 years.  In her spare time she rode horses for a local sheriff’s department and after retiring she became a registered therapeutic riding instructor.

“When I started expanding my horizons to include a pursuit of psychic development, Reiki and shamanic studies, my life really came alive,” Vera said. “I now wake up each morning glad to be alive and with a desire to help people with their physical, spiritual and emotional health issues.”

Vera began developing her psychic abilities under the guidance of Jacqui Geary.  She joined ECRIPT, a paranormal research group and continues to use her investigative skills to help people.  Intrigued by shamanism Vera took an introductory course with Michael Harner.  During this journey she came across the term “drum circle facilitator” and now acts in this capacity to help others experience the drum circle, journey to the upper and lower worlds and discover their “teacher” and “power animal.”

She was introduced to Reiki by Ruth Amarante who served with her at the local sheriff’s department, and who works with Raven Reiki on many levels.

“Over time I’ve incorporated everything I’ve learned for a healing modality that’s unique to me, and not easy to name or describe. I call it Raven Reiki after my Shamanic Guide. It is not Shamanic Reiki as I have heard some people refer to the combination of methods - It is Raven Reiki, a client driven method that primarily uses positive imaging to change spiritually, physically and emotionally.”

Raven Reiki is honored to have Reiki Ruth offer her own special form of Reiki at Summer Fest on Saturday from 11 to 7.

Ruth Amarante, Reiki Master/Teacher

After years of studying and practicing Reiki for personal use, Ruth made the commitment to becoming a Reiki Master in 2012. Since completing her Third Degree in the Usui System of Natural Healing, Ruth has clients and students in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Hawaii.
Expanding on her life-long interest in crystals, Ruth has a wide variety of healing stones that may be used during sessions as needed.
Creating a truly unique healing experience, Ruth may also combine Reiki with the Raindrop Technique of applying essential oils. Always striving for the highest and best good, each client receives an individualized healing using all of Ruth's skills, knowledge, intuition and connection with Spirit.

The vibrant art of Dana Bree

This weekend at the Trinity Summer Fest (at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, N), Dana Bree of Stonebear Design will be exhibiting and selling her original artwork as well as archival fine art prints of cards and matted artwork.  Dana draws upon a vast well of personal experience and vision/dreamwork in her art.  Her work is truly visionary and inspirational, and each piece represents a profound moment or vision from her life.

All artwork exclusive property of Dana Bree©2014. May not be reproduced, copied or used in any way without the express written permission of Dana Bree.

"The visions I get from dreaming have always been an important part of my paintings and drawings.
Sometimes it is only a small element in the corner of a painting, at other times it becomes the whole painting. A person or landscape or bird or beast may speak to me in a unique way. The fantastic in color and fabric and costume stimulate the creative in me as well as the metaphysical elements of my meditations.
I lived in Africa for 5 years and the sights and sounds and dreams I had will forever influence the visions I see. I traveled across the Kalahari in Botswana, and slept by a river while lions roared in the night. I camped in a dry riverbank in Zimbabwe and awoke with the ground rumbling and the voices of elephants and rhinos speaking to me from my dream. This riverbed turned out to be an ancient elephant trail.
I lived on an island in the Indian Ocean and dived among the glorious neon colored fish and corals.
I rafted down a jungle river in Guatamala and climbed up to the top of a pyramid covered by vines and hidden from view where I saw the sun rise surrounded by mist filled jungles.
These and many other experiences left an indelible mark on my psyche. I have barely touched all of the images that came to me and continue to fill my dreams."

The Dark Summer

Where has summer gone?

Although I was prepared to launch into a new stage of Mind Key development during the summer months, June and July have turned into the regeneration period of the Dark Lady.

This card has been coming up in readings lately, and it seems many of us are frustrated with the stagnancy and slow-movement of our life paths.

The same goes for me.  Summer has traditionally been a period of soaking in as much sun and salt water as I can (lake water works in a pinch).  Today I spend my days doing craft and story time, pulling dunked children out of the water, and searching the sand for missing beach toys.  It may not seem dark, but as The Dark Lady says, it also doesn’t seem like much of anything gets done (the state of my house will attest to this).

As The Dark Lady also assures me, that doesn’t mean I haven’t made progress.  At least my brain has, as if these moments of laziness (is that this is called?) have given thought the opportunity to run free.  This manifests itself in madness, insanity, and fleeting moments of peace and clarity.  It hasn’t seem like I’ve done much, but when I look at all I have done, the madness actually seems justified.

I’ve been learning more from the plants during my apprenticeship with herbalist Robin Rose Bennett, and studying and meditating with my guide for this year, the goddess Artemis. (more to come on my self-appointed apprenticeship projects).

I am also working on events and projects such as the Summer Fest hosted by Trinity Metaphysical this weekend, August 16th & 17th at the Sussex County Fairgrounds (learn more about it in this week’s upcoming blog posts).

Mind Key has also been blessed with fresh energy and support.  Stay tuned for more about our new Facebook page administrators that are sharing their vision of healing, sustainability and growth on a daily basis (you guys rock!). Once the website’s new artist and practitioners pages are up and running the Mind Key community will have an opportunity to discover more avenues and resources for your personal journey of self-discovery thanks to the overwhelming interest and support from practitioners such as Kevin Hall and Do Well Be Well in Haskell, NJ.

Also in the works is the next Mind Key retreat to be held near the Autumn Equinox on Saturday, September 21st.  The theme will be balance, with a focus on how to balance our dreams and personal visions with the task of daily life.  I’m currently looking for thoughts on what “balance” means to you and what kind of balance you are seeking, as well as practitioners interested in sharing their vision of this during the retreat.  Please share your thoughts in the comments below or by emailing Danielle@MindKey.me.
So, it may not seem as if summer produces much by the way of progress, but suddenly, as Ta’Om the Poet says, “Get it on paper, and then you’ll see where you’ve come and where you’re going.”

He encourages you to do the same, here, in your journal, or on scraps of paper to be crumpled, burned or collaged on a vision board.  Thanks Ta’Om.

Many blessings,
Danielle Rose
